Who Are You?

I must admit, I get a little obsessed with checking the stats.  On Blogger, the host of this blog, the most interesting stat to me is page hits per country on any given day, week, month.  I often tell A. about it, usually when we are in bed.  "Apparently, there are people checking out my blog in the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Romania."

A's eyes narrow.  "Spy bots," he says.

"What?"

"Of course."

"I'm imagining some drunk ex-patriots, you know, friends of friends, looking for a little connection."

"Spy bots," he insists.

So I ask you, Dear Readers, is it true that you of regions far and wide are not real people with real opinions, real worries, real joys?  Are you merely spy bots prowling the internet for weak links such as myself?

Does Russia have that many spy bots, probing the mutterings of a Mid-Western middle-aged American mom?  I thought the cold war was over?

Total page hits to date: 5,364*

Regardless of if you are human, canine, spy bot**, or fem bot***, thanks for visiting A Terminal Case of Whimsy.  I hope you don't regret it, as A. sometimes does.

*Including my own, which accounts for about half.

**I don't even know what this is.

  1. I probably account for a few hundred of those hits in the US. What? NONE from Sweden?! The only explanation is that they route their internet through Russia. I'll send my spies to check on that.

  2. Don't worry Honeybee. Sweden comes in a proud 4th place in all time page hits after Russia ("spammers" your neighbor has informed me, though I refuse to believe they are anything but my long lost relatives), and Germany. Could our dear friend who loves stinky cheese be responsible for that? Or are the Germans spammers too?

  3. Just to be clear...the joy-kill neighbor is not me. It is well known that I too prefer to live with my own fantastical beliefs. My audience week sees the U.S. far outpacing all others followed by the UK and Canada neck and neck for second, then Russia, France, Greece, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, and in 10th place Sweden. Come on Sweden, go for gold. "För Sverige i tiden"

  4. I certainly hope that my hits from Canada show up. They are sporadic, but there all the same. (Jennifer, an old friend glad of the connection)

  5. Yes Jennifer, Canada comes in loud and clear, in its characteristically unassuming way. Glad to know that you tuning in! Thanks for reading. How did the blog come your way?

  6. I am not a spybot, but I am spybotted upon, thoroughly. Love the blog.

  7. Thank you for not being a spybot and for visiting the blog!

Why spybots? And how many spybots make a spytot?

    Things to ponder. . . .
